Project Officer – Education, Literacy Boost Programming


Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Ensure that your staff is providing all beneficiaries of your programme with ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct. 



Reporting to the Project Coordinator- Education, support the implementation and coordination of Literacy Boost Education Project. Contribute to achieve project targets in designated district through implementing the activities as per the project activity plan.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Role Dimensions: The position will also support to maintain relationship between Save the Children & Provincial Education Ministries, Zone Education Offices.


Quality implementiaon of Project activities as per the activity plan and coordination with project coordinator.

Support implanting MEAL Systems and Approaches.

  • Support quality literacy assessments, and development of district Detailed Implementation Plans.
  • Work closely with M&E team on M&E initiatives
  • Support Project Coordinator in effective documentation of data on improved literacy outcomes, overall program successes, innovations and promising practices related to improved literacy and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.
  • Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality data
  • Document and communicate developments in the project sites to the Senior Education Manager for the purpose of learning, knowledge management, sharing experiences and education sector program development in Sri Lanka.

Representation at provincial level:

  • Support to maintain and improve active and regular working relationships with other organizations who are linked to Education Programme.
  • Represent Save the Children in provincial clusters and other platforms as per the guidance from line manager.

  • Degree in related sociology or related field.




Expereience in similar postion for not less than 3 years.

Good communication skills

Sound knowledge in MS office packages

Good planning and organizing skills
